The documentary, "Notes: A Noteworthy Story of Music," received an Excellence in Media Production award at the International Student Media Festival.
The documentary, which was produced by Buena Vista University Media Studies students, was honored as a Judge's Favorite in the College/University Division.? Jerry Johnson, Assistant Professor of Media Studies and Matt Clark, BVU senior traveled to the festival in Anaheim, Calif. to accept the awards.
While at the festival, Johnson and Clark also attended a day- long moviemaking workshop sponsored by the American Film Institute.? "Notes: A Noteworthy Story of Music" chronicled the Storm Lake High School Music Department during the 2006 school year as they prepared for a national competition while getting ready for a year's worth of concerts and contests.? The documentary explored how the students and teachers are connected by music.
The International Student Media Festival celebrates outstanding classroom media projects. Students and teachers are honored in a three-day event that includes workshops, screenings of winning entries, and an awards ceremony.? The ISMF is sponsored by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology.
