Kids choose identity for waterpark mascot

Tuesday, November 13, 2007

King's Pointe Waterpark Resort is proud to present King Splash! This six-foot friendly frog is the newest addition to the high energy action at the waterpark.

Naming an extra large reptile is a new experience for the resort. King's Pointe management asked guests and community members that visited the facility to select names for consideration. Over 200 people put forth their creative best and the name was narrowed to four finalists including King Splash, Prince Knee Deep, King Flipper and King Hopper.

Sales director, Katie Schwint, then met with area fourth graders for the final selection. Overwhelmingly the kids choose King Splash. "We wanted to be sure it was a name that kids would not only relate too, but feel ownership of," said Schwint. "This character is designed to be a warm, kid-friendly buddy to all our younger visitors."

King's Pointe participates in the Partners for Excellence program in the school system - matched with two fourth grade classes at North Elementary School. The teachers for these classes are Mrs. Phillips and Mrs. McCabe.

Beginning in early December, King Splash will be making regular appearances throughout the community and at trade shows throughout the Midwest region.
