Uniq Xosanavongsa is pleased to have open her new restaurant, Uniq Cuisine. After moving from Des Moines, Uniq liked the idea of celebrating her culture and doing something different.
"I use to work for a big corporation for a lot of years and nothing changed and then I decided that it was time for a change," Uniq said. "I love the view of the lake and I can't wait to see the summer after the construction is completed."
Unique Cuisines is at the old B & B Hot Subs location on East Lakeshore across the road from King's Pointe Waterpark and Resort.
The restaurant offers Thai, Lao and American dishes.
"We have both spicy and non-spicy dishes depending on what the customers want," the owner said. Even though the restaurant has been open for a short while, Uniq has already had a lot repeat business.
"I have people come in and wondering what the food tastes like and then they keep coming back so I think they enjoy it," Uniq said.
Uniq invites everyone to stop by and try the food.
"It's something different than the regular cheese burger and fries," Uniq said. "I love burgers too but it's good to try something different."
