Halloween Hike carves a trail at Sac
It is time to sign up for the 23rd Annual Halloween Night Hike. This year the characters of your favorite stories will come to life as you walk through the Sac County Conservation Board night hike, "Living Pages."
This even will be held at Hagge Park just south of Sac City. Come and enjoy our entertaining actors and our delicious popcorn and cocoa. But, Hurry because you must reserve your spot! You can make reservations for Saturday or Sunday from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m.
Also join us in the pumpkin carving contest on Oct. 19. Please bring a pumpkin and carving tools. Carving will begin at 6:30 p.m. and is held at Hagge Park just south of Sac City. Donations of pumpkins are needed. Call at 712-662-4530 to reserve your spot now.
Chili cook-off heats up Fonda fund drive
B.E.S.T. for Fonda (Building Emergency Services Together) is holding their Second Annual Chili Cook-Off. It will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 5- 8 p.m. at the K.C. Hall in Fonda. Come and sample each contestant's chili and vote for your favorites. Children's activities are planned. Free-will donation. Carry out for farmers and in town delivery to homebound will also be available. Call 288-6223 after 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 6.
Historical Society Garage Sale begins
Thousands of unusual books, decor, collectibles and household items are on hand at the Buena Vista County Historical Society Museum in Storm Lake, as the huge annual Garage Sale fundraiser gets underway.
The sale begins today, Thursday, Oct. 4 (8 a.m.-8 p.m.) and continues Friday, Oct. 5 (9 a.m.-7 p.m.) and Saturday, Oct. 6 (8 a.m.-1 p.m.)
