Students of the Head Start Program in Storm Lake have been busy getting their eyes checked by Vision Care of Storm Lake at the offices, 600 Ontario Street. Vision Care donates the exams to the program.
"They do about 125 exams for free," said Kate Freese of Head Start. "We are very grateful to them. Sometimes there are students that are already experiencing vision issues and it's great that they help with figuring out the needs."
Head Start is required to have the exams done within 45 days after the school year starts.
"They are great at getting the kids in here and getting them through the exam," Freese said.
To show appreciation, the staff and students made treats and created thank you cards and drawings.
"We wanted to say thank you for everything they have done," Freese said. "They have been helping for seven years and this has been a great gift."
A group of about 20 students arrived Wednesday morning at Vision Care for their eye exams, with smiles on their faces as the technician of Vision Care took care of them.
