Hunt Fiddlers in concert in Spencer
The Spencer Area Concert Association will open its 2007-2008 season with a performance by the Hunt Family Fiddlers at 4 p.m. Sunday, October 14, at the Clay County Regional Events Center. The special time will give people a chance to participate in this year's Artisans Road Trip earlier Sunday afternoon.
The Hunt Family Fiddlers are family entertainment at its best. The nine Hunts perform Celtic, bluegrass, inspirational, and popular tunes. Each show is a unique experience that combines fiddling with singing and Irish step dancing. The Hunts also play drums, accordion, keyboard, and guitar. Their Spencer program will include such favorites as a "Sound of Music" medley, their rendition of "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," "Danny Boy," and an "Over the Rainbow" duet by the Hunt twins.
The Hunt Family Fiddlers are made up of Clint and Sandy Hunt and their seven children: Jessica, Jennifer, Joshua, Jonathan, Jordan, Justin, and Jamison. The kids have won numerous awards for their fiddling, singing, and dancing at competitions both in the United States and abroad (including Scotland and Ireland). They recently performed before Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to Richmond, Virginia. For the past three years, they have opened the Virginia Symphony's "Symphony Under the Stars" concerts. The Hunts have released four albums and a DVD, and authored two music books.
Ticket prices are $16.50 for adults and $8.25 for students (including college students). Tickets are available at the Events Center box office (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.). Or they can be charged by phone through Ticketmaster at 712-262-4554, or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
