Alta hiked its volleyball record to 7-2 after beating four teams and finishing second Saturday at the Rockwell City-Lytton Invitational.
"This was a good day of volleyball. We got to see a lot of different types of teams and we learned how important the fundamentals are to winning," said Cyclones coach Jeannie Henningsen, whose team went 4-1 on the day.
Alta won its pool, beating Pomeroy-Palmer 2-0 (21-8, 21-19), Paton-Churdan 2-0 (21-11, 21-17) and RC-L 2-0 (21-11, 21-13).
The Cyclones then worked past Kingsley-Pierson 2-1 (25-23, 23-25, 15-11) in the semfinals before falling to Fort Dodge St. Edmond 1-2 (16-25, 25-14, 9-15) in the championship.
"The semifinal and final matches were great volleyball. We pulled through in Game 3 against K-P with strong serving and hitting," said Henningsen. "In the finals, we hit real well and played hard against a strong team. Kelsie (Peterson) was strong at the net and Jordan (Henningsen) got us some key points with her serving. I thought Jessy (Bibler) and Bridget (Murillo) played some of their best volleyball today.
"Jessy blocked well and Bridget and Courtney got the ball to our hitters so we could put it away."
Peterson, Bibler and Murillo made the all-tournament team for Alta.
