During the months of September, October, and November BVRMC will showcase Bob Ansorge's photography. The Storm Lake artist's work can be seen across from the Bistro.
Bob Ansorge is the owner of Buntrock-Salie Photography in Storm Lake, he has a long family history with the camera. His grandfather's hobby was photography, as was Bob's dad, and his parent's wedding was filmed on colored movie film in 1936.
One of Bob's first jobs was as an assistant in a camera store and photographic studio in Spirit Lake when he was 14. He photographed, processed the fi lm, and printed all the yearbook pictures for the high school annual for four years and by 17 was photographing weddings. After graduating from Valparaiso University with a math major and spending two years in the Army, he came to work for Buntrock-Salie and has been there ever since.
Specializing in portraits, Bob also is well known for his work in the wedding field, school photography, product photography, reunions and events, aerial photography, restoration of vintage prints, andpassports/immigration.
There have been many changes over the years in photography moving from black and white fi lm, to color fi lm, to now the digital age. Bob rarely photographs with film and now spends much of his time fi ne-tuning his computer skills and knowledge needed to create the outstanding photographs you see today.
One of his hobbies is using a 1925 antique panoramic camera for scenic and special occasion photographs. The panoramic pictures
you see here today are printed from film that is 10 inches high and the length of the photograph. Imagine the fun taking that camera on vacation with you. It doesn't slip into your pocket but does fill up half the trunk space nicely!
