Four clinics for football officials have been set around the state and will start Aug. 11.
Two clinics will be offered Aug. 11 at Woodbury Central High School in Moville and at West Burlington High School. Both clinics start at 8:30 a.m. The Siouxland Officials Association and the Southeast Iowa Officials Association respectively will host the clinics.
A third clinic is Aug. 18 at ADM, Adel High School with the Adel Officials' hosting, starting at 8:30 a.m.
The final clinic is set for Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 6 p.m. at Waverly-Shell Rock High School with the Cedar Valley Officials Association hosting.
Lunch is covered in the $35 per person clinic charge, payable in advance. A five man crew can register for $150. A late registration fee of $15 is applied after Aug. 3. The clinics have been advertised on the IHSAA Web site.
Clinic participants will learn from some of the best officials on how to have an effective pre-game conference; communicating with coaches, game management, position by position point of emphasis, blocking, sportsmanship, heat and hydration information and player equipment in addition to a sanctioned rules meeting.
