Sioux Central's softball team avenged an early season league loss to Alta Wednesday, beating the Cyclones 7-1.
Sioux Central's Brooke Scharn recorded her 20th win of the season (20-3 on the year) as the Rebels hiked their records to 22-3 overall and 9-1 in the Northwest Conference.
In six innings, Scharn allowed two hits and one earned run while walking one and fanning seven.
The Rebels broke a scoreless game with a run in the third, then scored another in the fourth and four more in the fifth.
Alta scored its run in the seventh after Kelsie Peterson tripled and Jessy Bibler knocked her in with a single.
Bibler absorbed the pitching loss, giving up 10 hits over six innings as Alta slipped to 11-8, 7-2 NWC.
Beth Ehlers, Brooke Scharn, Stephanie Thompson and Tricia Hogrefe each had two hits for the Rebels, while Brianna Ehlers and Grace Rehnstrom had one apiece. Hogrefe drove in three runs, while Brooke Scharn and Brianna Ehlers each drove in one.
