Buena Vista County 4-H'ers exhibiting beef, sheep, swine, goats and dairy at the 2007 Buena Vista County Fair have been recruiting dollars for the 4-H Livestock premium fund, according to Rhonda K. Christensen, County Extension Education Director.?This is the 10th year of the "Livestock Premium Fund" for the Buena Vista County 4-H'ers, which replaced the livestock auction that was a climax of the fair.
Following the fair, the premium fund is divided amongst the 4-H'ers with livestock exhibits and awarded to the 4-Hers' and helps provide encouragement to 4-H'ers to continue in agriculture projects.
Levels of support are: Diamond Clover - $500 and above,? Gold Clover - $250 - $499,? Silver Clover - $100 - $249,? Bronze Clover - up to $99.
4-H members have been making personal calls to businesses in the county to ask for financial support for the premium fund.? ?As of June 22, the following businesses had donated to the Livestock Premium Fund:? (Steve Kier); Iowa Feeder Supply; FC Coop; Bomgaars; DFS, Inc.; Vetter Equipment; North Lake Truck Repair; Fitzpatrick Auto Center; Beef Country; Frank Halverson (Pioneer); B.V. County Farm Bureau; Alta Implement; L&F Farms; Drzycimski/Black Agency; Wal-Mart; Alta Mart (Shell); and Bob Bennett.
Donations are still being accepted and can be mailed to the Buena Visa County Extension Office by June 30, 2007.? Donors will be recognized for their financial support at the 2007 Buena Vista County Fair July 19 - 22.? Checks may be made payable to Buena Vista County Extension and mailed to P.O. Box 820, Storm Lake, Iowa? 50588 or dropped off at the Extension Office.
