U.S Cellular, the nation's sixth largest wireless service carrier, is excited to announce plans to expand into Northwest Iowa in mid July.
According to Eric Conlon, 24 new cell sites and future plans for more is already in the works.
"We have been planning this expansion for a while and are excited to move into the area to provide great customer service in the area," Conlon said.
U.S. Cellular will add four additional retail stores - with one in Emmetsburg, Spencer, Spirit Lake and Storm Lake.
"We are here to take care of the customer, that is our number one goal," Conlon said.
U.S. Cellular has acquired the Cellular One Operations from Long Lines Wireless. U.S. Cellular will be adding 21 new positions around the four new locations to provide their services.
The company will also be investing $5.6 million into building, enhancing and expanding the Northwest Iowa Network.
"We look forward to being good corporate citizens and getting involved with local events and organizations," Conlon said.
According to company information, $200,000 was given through grants and sponsorships to different programs and organizations in Iowa
Last year, U.S. Cellular provided more than $200,000 in funds to Iowa programs that serve disadvantage youth, families and seniors. With more then 580 cell sites across the state of Iowa, U.S. Cellular looks to be able to provide service throughout the state.
