Carving during the parade
SL artist Klatt races to complete an eagle during route
There will be a spectacular new entry in the Storm Lake Star Spangled Spectacular Fourth of July Big Parade this year - or rather two spectacular entries. Runaway Saws chainsaw artist Jeff Klatt will be entry #7 and entry #109.
He will begin the parade carving an American Eagle - keeping with the patriotic theme of the day - and end the parade finishing the carving. He said the length of the parade should be just about enough to finish the eagle. He will be traveling in a car trailer in the parade as entry #7, then quickly drive through town to rejoin the parade and finish the creation as entry #109 for the crowd's enjoyment.
The Big Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. and travels along Lakeshore Drive along Storm Lake's city parks to Hudson Street to Third Street where the parade ends. There should be over 120 entries in the Big Parade, chaired by John Cullen and Mike Diercks.
The Big Parade and all entertainment in the Star Spangled Spectacular is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by private donations.
