SL schools approve new contracts and resignations

The Storm Lake Board of Education has approved several new contracts. They include:

* Karen Dunbar, high school guidance counselor, $41,342

* Georgia Demers, HS Spanish/ELL teacher, $42,683

* Hope Kordahl, special education teacher, $51,618

* Jennifer Frederickson, middle school sixth grade reading/science teacher, $30,268

* Barbie Bass, middle school eighth grade language arts teacher, $38,646

* Miguel Garza, middle school ELL teacher, $27,025

* Middle school team leaders - Julie Miller, fifth grade; Judy O'Malley, sixth grade; Jolene Manzey, seventh grade; Dave Petersen, eighth grade; Summer Schmitt, essential skills. Each will be paid a stipend of $2,432

* Janet Anderson, head ninth grade volleyball coach, $2,432

* Stacey VanDer Sloot, head eighth grade volleyball coach, $2,162

* Mike Wabeke, assistant eighth grade volleyball coach, $1,892

* John Beck, assistant varsity football coach, $3,243

* Ana Polendo, instructional assistant and interpreter/translator for summer school and in the ELL program at the HS this fall

Resignations were received from:

* Chris Anderson as middle school eighth grade language arts teacher and driver's ed instructor and coaching positions

* Christy Stephan, assistant eighth grade volleyball coach

* Leah Wieland, North School ETA instructional assistant

Text book rental fees will remain $30 and activity tickets (optional) will remain at $25 for all students. School band instrument rental fees are set at $30.

Driver's education fees will increase by $10, $185 for SL students, and up $50 to $275 for non-SL School students.
