Darlene Hartje

Sept. 21, 1934- June 17, 2007

Darlene E. Hartje, 72, Storm Lake, died Sunday, June 17, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, following a 14-year struggle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Newell, with Pastor Mark Harman officiating. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation was held Wednesday, June 20, from 3 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where the family was present from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. Those who wish to send online condolences to the family may do so via the Sliefert Funeral Home website: www.sliefert.com

Darlene Elizabeth Beckman was born September 21, 1934 to Walter and Sylvia (Schroeder) Beckman in Sheridan Township, Carroll County. She was baptized as an infant on October 14, 1934 at the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lake City, and later confirmed on March 21, 1948 in the same church. Darlene attended and graduated from Lake City High School in 1952. She would further her education in the field of Cosmetology, graduating from Iowa School of Beauty Culture in 1953.

On February 14, 1954, Darlene married Arnold Hartje at the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lake City. The couple was blessed with two children, Norma and Dwight.

Darlene was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Newell, where she held various offices of the Ladies Aid, Cradle Roll Director, Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher. She enjoyed homemaking, baking, sewing and gardening, especially tending to her flowers. For most of her life, Darlene kept a daily journal. She found great joy in going to dances with Arnold and was a sincere friend to many people. She delighted in keeping a warm and comfortable home for her family and enjoyed entertaining friends and family alike. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's activities.Darlene's kind and caring presence will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Norma Breimeier and her husband Bill, New Salem, N. D.; her son, Dwight Hartje and his wife Karen, Storm Lake; grandchildren: Sandy Wolf and her husband Travis, Mandan, N.D.; Rachel Breimeier, St. Paul, Minn.; David, Sarah and Jonathan Hartje, Storm Lake; one brother, Don Beckman and his wife Marlene, Stockton, Calif.; three sisters: Delores Bonney, Denver, Colo.; Diane Nieland and her husband Al, Carroll; and Dorothy Frank and her husband Arland of Wall Lake; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Sylvia Beckman; her husband, Arnold; an infant sister; parents-in-law, Herman and Elsie Hartje; brothers-in-law: Merlin Venteicher, Richard Bonney and Russell Biggins; and two nephews, Joseph and Michael Venteicher.

Lucile Dannenberg

Funeral Services for Lucille Dannenberg, 90, Storm Lake will be Friday, June 22, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 21, from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake.

Mrs. Dannenberg died on June 18, at the Methodist Manor in Storm Lake.

Leota Neppl

Funeral Services for Leota Neppl, 90, Storm Lake, formerly, Fonda, will be Saturday, June 23, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Catholic Cemetery in Fonda. The Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call Friday, June 22, anytime after 5 p.m., where family will be present 6 p.m.-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. all at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake.

Mrs. Neppl died on June 18, at the Newell Good Samaritan Center.
