Teacher's Academy will feature ag curriculum

Tuesday, June 5, 2007

Calling all teachers: Registrations are now being accepted for the Region 2 Teacher's Academy scheduled for June 18-20 at the Dickinson County Fairgrounds in Spirit Lake. There will be sessions and materials for kindergarten through 12th grade. This academy is an excellent opportunity for teachers to learn how to integrate agriculture into their curriculum. Attendees will participate in hands-on lessons, activities and tours that teach the importance of agriculture and its impact on Iowa communities.

The pre-registration fee is $30 and it is to be sent to the Dickinson County Farm Bureau office, P.O. Box A, Spirit Lake. One credit through Prairie Lakes Area Educational Agency will be received for the total cost of $130. If you want one graduate college credit through Morningside the total cost is $180. This credit will count towards the benchmarks and standards for Iowa's No Child Left Behind Laws. There are scholarships available, so please call your local Farm Bureau office today at 712-732-4004, or the Dickinson County office at 712-336-3289.
