National Library Week observed by county libraries

National Library Week will be celebrated next week, with several events planned at the libraries around Buena Vista County. Here's a rundown of the activities, all open to the public.

Week long events:

* Marathon Public Library: A different puzzle to solve each day will be featured with prizes for everyone who participates.

* Storm Lake Public Library: Food for Fines (all donations go to Upper Des Moines Opportunity Outreach). Pay your fines and help others in the community!

Tuesday, April 17

* Open House, 10:00 - 6:00, Rembrandt Public Library

* Open House - 10:00 - 5:30, Albert City Public Library. There will be door prizes for adults and treasure chest prizes for children. Refreshments will be served. Stop by the library and help celebrate!

Wednesday, April 18

* Library Staff Appreciation Day! Thursday, April 19, 6:30 p.m., Storm Lake Public Library. Local author Annie O'Dell will share her new book, "Explosion of Toads: A Celebration of Eccentricity." Refreshments will be served and books will be available for purchase.

Friday, April 20

* Noon, Storm Lake Public Library, the film "Happy Feet" will be shown. 6:30 p.m., Storm Lake Public Library, in the Dinner and a Movie event. Contact the library for details.
