Symphony presents young artists

Cherokee Symphony will hold their Young Artist Concert on Sunday, April 1 at the Cherokee Community Center in Cherokee at 4 p.m. The concert will feature four student soloists chosen based on auditions held February 10. Stephanie March, Nathan Green, Brent Ramsey Ashley Mazur will all have the opportunity to solo with the symphony under the direction of Maestro Lee Thorson, Storm Lake.

Stephanie Mach, daughter of James and Kathryn March, Sioux City, is currently studying cello with Mr. Peter Howard, retired principal cellist of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. She began he cello studies in at the age of 3, at age 13, she became the youngest member of the Sioux City Symphony. She will be featured as soloist with the orchestra in a performance of Beethoven Triple Concerto this coming May.

Pianist Nathan Green has performed with the Omaha Area Youth Symphony and multiple times with the Omaha Symphony.

Brent Ramsey, Council Bluffs received outstanding soloist awards for clarinet and bari sax. At Wayne State College he is the Principal Clarinetist of the Wind Ensemble.

Ashley Mazure has studied voice under Paula Keeler for the last six years. Ms. Mazure was accepted into All-State Chorus in 2005 and 2006. She is currently a freshman at Buena Vista University, Storm Lake.

Admission is $7 per person, high school age or younger are free.
