Laurens may become a Sister City with Laurens, France, with Representatives from France coming to Iowa. The movie, "The Straight Story" was the inspiration for the citizens of Laurens, France to contact Laurens, Iowa, to make this bond as Sister Cities. Laurens, France is located about 15 miles from the Mediterranean Sea in the wine district of Southern France. The local community needs to plan ways to make these people welcome to the midwest, Thumma said.
