Dennis Alan Buell

March 18, 1940- Feb. 1, 2007

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at Grace United Methodist Church in Pequot Lakes, Minn. Interment services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7 at Galva Methodist Church, Galva. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in Galva Township East Cemetery, Galva.

Dennis A. Buell, 66, Breezy Point, Minn. and life long resident of Schaller passed away on Feb. 1. Dennis was born on March 18, 1940 to William and Elna (Goettsch) Buell, the fourth of four children. On December 29, 1967, Dennis married Ruth Graybill, Galva. To this union, two children, Ryan and Jenny were born. Dennis and Ruth raised their family on the family farm in Schaller where they lived until retiring to Breezy Point, Minn. in 2005.

Dennis served in the US Army in the early 1960's and was stationed in Germany. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He was the first to exhibit a giant pumpkin weighing over 100 pounds and a giant squash weighing 235 pounds at the Clay County Fair. He built wooden toys, piggy banks, bird feeders and outdoor furniture. The smell of cut wood and an abundance of fresh vegetables were staples at the house.

Dennis is survived by Ruth, his loving wife of 39 years, son, Dr. Ryan and Patty Buell, Pequot Lakes, Minn.; daughter: Jennifer and Jeff Halligan, Big Lake, Minn.; three grandchildren: Emilee Buell, Joshua Buell and Chance Halligan; brother: Lyle Buell, Holstein; many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Joelle Vreeland and Marilyn Voss, and granddaughter: Elizabeth Buell.

Donna Mae Pendleton Smith

June 22, 1925- Jan.28, 2007

Services for Donna Smith will be held on Feb. 10th at 10 a.m. at the Desert Garden United Church, 18818 North 128th Avenue, Sun City West, AZ 85375.

Donna Mae Pendleton Smith passed away peacefully at her home in Sun City West, Arizona on Sunday, Jan. 28th. Donna was born in Storm Lake on June 22, 1925 to Charles Edmund and Ruby Mae Pendleton. Charles Edmund practiced law in Storm Lake for many years. Donna graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1944. She then went to the University of Iowa where she obtained a bachelors degree in 1948. It was at the University of Iowa that Donna met her future husband, William Smith. Donna and Bill had three children: Brent, Brenda and William.

Donna was an avid bridge player and had obtained her Life Master status. She was also active in her church and ran the mission board this past year. Donna loved to travel and saw many parts of the world in her life.

She is survived by her husband Bill, her daughter Brenda, three grandchildren, four nieces and two nephews. Her brother, Wendell Pendleton, N.C., also survives her. She was preceded in death by her son, Brent, and two of her brothers, Charles Francis and Robert Emmett.

Ivan T. Anderson

Ivan T. Anderson, 96, Storm Lake, died Monday, February 5, 2007 at Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Memorial Services for Mr. Anderson will be held Friday, Feb. 9, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake, with Reverend Jamie Cutler officiating. Burial will be at a later date. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call on Thursday, Feb. 8, from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will be present.
