Despite forfeiting two of the first three weight classes, the AGH wrestling team came back to beat Pocahontas in a dual meet here Friday night, 56-24.
Pocahontas' Dawseny Smith won by forfeit at 103 pounds and at 110, Pocahontas' Bradley Ohlinger won by forfeit. At 112, AGH's Ryan Donahoo also won by forfeit.
Winners for AGH, and their weight divisions were: Adam Parker, 125, won by fall; Kyle Yearous, 135, won by fall; Mike White, 140, won by fall; Andrew Perry, 145, won by decision; Bryce Dean, 152, won by technical fall, and Austin Todd, 160, won by fall; Daniel Borchers, 189, won by fall; Steve Rupp, 215, won by fall, and Adam Dreeszen, 285, won by fall.
With the Parent's Night win, AGH finished off its dual meet regular season schedule with a 25-4 record.
Schaller-Crestland's Matt Tielbur won his 100th career match en route to a first place finish Saturday in the Charger Invitational Wrestling Tournament.
During the meet, Tielbur collected two falls and a decision in the championship match.
Tielbur was the second Wildcat wrestler this year to reach the100-win mark. Mark McDonough reached that milestone earlier this season.
Saturday, McDonough and Cory Naberhaus each finished second in the eight-team field. Junior Brance Frehse took third and sophomore Ronnie Huseman added a fifth place.
Double match winners vs. Manson NW Webster and Prairie Valley included Tielbur and Frehse. McDonough and Naberhaus added one win each.
The Wildcats compete at a Class 1A Section meet in Laurens Saturday, starting at noon.
The Sioux Central wrestling team was hurt by forfeits last Saturday in losing all four matches in a quadrangular invitational hosted by Southern Cal in Lake City.
The Rebels opened with a 66-6 loss to Mason City Newman. Sioux Central gave up seven forfeits and 42 points.
At 103 pounds, Sioux Central's Dominick Amendalore lost by fall at 13 seconds, while at 140, Rebel wrestler Luke Peterson lost by fall to Jacob Thilges. At 145, Sioux Central's Colin Hogrefe lost a 7-1 decision to Riley Stallsmith. At 152, Sioux Central's Marshall Wernimont lost an 11-6 decision to Neman's Lucas Brey.
The Rebels' six points were scored when Mason City Newman forfeited at 160. Kaleb Lindquist was credited with that victory.
In the second dual, the Rebels lost 83-0 by Manson NW Webster.
Once again, Sioux Central was hurt by forfeits, as they gave up nine matches and 54 points.
