A wealth of experience
Leisure Hotels recently selected Bill Gavin, formerly of northern Michigan, as General Manager of King's Pointe Waterpark Resort. Gavin is an experienced hospitality professional, having worked with some of the industry's best upscale hotel companies (The Ritz Carlton, Hilton, Starwood, and Radisson) over the course of his 20 year career. He has managed major resorts from Minneapolis to Denver.
"Bill's dedication to customer service and quality guest experience is a perfect fit for this project. We are excited to have him on board," said Patti Moore, City Administrator.
Prior to joining Leisure Hotel Corporation,
Gavin spent the last five years as director of hotel operations developing the Little River Resort in northern Michigan, responsible for the operations of 292 guest rooms, 95 full hook-up RV Park sites, 12,000 square feet of meeting space, three restaurants, and retail space.
"My management philosophy is to treat everyone with respect, foster an environment of trust and fun, which in turn drives business results. I have been fortunate to have had many excellent mentors along the pathway of my career and now it is incumbent upon me to spread my knowledge and experiences with future hospitality professionals," said Gavin.
Gavin is a Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA), and participated in an International Training Program at the Imperial Palace Hotel (a five diamond facility) in Tokyo, Japan.
Earlier in his career, Gavin was the general manager at the Four Points Sheraton a 245 room full-service property in Denver, Colorado and the general manager of Embassy Suites Minneapolis Downtown, a 217 all-suite full service property.
"The compelling reason my family and I want to come to Storm Lake is the genuine hospitality that was extended to me during my visit, the fantastic vision the City has for this project, and the special community attributes Storm Lake has to offer. I'm thrilled to be a part of this resort," said Gavin.
Gavin's wife Tracy and three children, Skylar, Kyleigh, and Ryan enjoy camping and snowmobiling. His family will join him in Storm Lake this summer.
