When life gives you lemons...

To the Editor:

This letter goes out to the people of Storm Lake. You know who you are. You are the ones who have prayed for us, sent letters and cards of support, sent gifts of money, food and gift cards, took the time to organize a fundraiser, prepared food, attended a benefit and gave donations. If we sent a card or letter to each one of you, we would probably be doing this for the rest of our lives.

If you believe that small town living (and living in Storm Lake specifically) is a bad thing, you have never really experienced the joy of living here. We had no idea how many caring people lived here, until we were given a bunch of lemons. We are overwhelmed with your support.

Thanks to everyone who gave us support during this trying time. We especially would like to thank the Elks Lodge, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Central Bank, Storm Lake Community Schools, the Storm Lake Knights of Columbus and the Santa's Castle Board.

After the benefit on Sunday, January 14, we see our lemons are turning to lemonade. Thanks to each of you.

- Bob and Judy Halder, Storm Lake
