Raymond Julich, 57, Lakeside, and formerly of the Carroll area died Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake following a long battle with cancer.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 29, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father James McCormick. The casket will be taken to the church at 9:30 a.m. Monday to lie in state until the time of the funeral mass. Lector will be Mary Young. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery in Maple River. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m. Sunday. A rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Sunday by the Knights of Columbus. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Julich was born on Dec. 23, 1949, at Carroll, the son of John F. and Marian T. (Pille) Julich. He attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Elementary School and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1968. On May 17, 1975, he was married to Nancy Loneman at St. Francis Church in Maple River with Father Richard Birdsall officiating. Following their marriage the couple lived at Newell and in 1980 moved to their home in Lakeside. Mr. Julich had been employed by Birdsall Furniture and Buena Vista Stationary and Printing in Storm Lake and since 1989 has been employed as safety coordinator for the Water and Waste Water Facility in Storm Lake. He was a member of St. Mary Parish and Knights of Columbus. Mr. Julich enjoyed his family, fishing, Nascar racing, and spending time on the lake.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Julich, Lakeside; two daughters: Kimberly Julich and her special friend, Matt Schuver, Sioux Rapids; Kelli Julich and her fiancé Ryan Turnquist, Lakeside; sisters: Mary Young, Madison, Ala.; Linda Hoogestraat, Carroll, and Helen Wempe and her husband Tim, Breda; brothers: Leo Julich and his wife Cassie, Houston, Texas, and Joseph Julich, Carroll. He was preceded in death by his parents; and father and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Darnella Loneman.

Bernice R. Nelson, 94, Sioux Rapids, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital in Spencer.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery at Spencer. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, Jan. 26, from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids, where the family will be present.
Bernice Rosellia Reng was born June 22, 1912 in Sioux Rapids to Albert and Lena (Elsmo) Reng. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith as an infant at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids. She attended grade school at Cornell and graduated from Sioux Rapids High School. Bernice was just nine years old when her mother died.
March 7, 1936, Bernice was united in marriage to Irven Nelson in Spencer. Two sons, Gary Lee and Jimmy Irven, blessed their union.
She and Irven raised their family on the same farm which had been in the family for many years.Bernice raised chickens and had fresh eggs. Her garden was large and she fed her family and friends from its bounty. She loved to cook. She was known for her delicious apple pie, but her homemade cookies were a favorite with her beloved grandchildren. She was a lifelong, faithful member of First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids and also a member of the Cornell Community Club.
She treasured the time she spent with her family. She loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren fervently. Bernice will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Gary and Lee Nelson, Sioux Rapids and Jimmy and Carolyn, St. Paul, Minn.; grandchildren: Randy and Grace Nelson, Kenai, Alaska; Lori and Jeff Edwardson, Spencer; Kevin Nelson, Anchorage, Alaska; James and Sonja Nelson, Maple Grove, Minn.; and Joshua Nelson of St. Paul, Minn.; great-grandchildren: Brandon and Sarah, Ashlee, Rylee, Courtney, Alexandria, Ryan, Sara, Josh, Elise and Amanda; great-great-grandchildren: Sierra and Autumn; sister-in-law Gertrude Reng, Sioux Rapids; extended family and many friends.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Irven; two brothers, Art and Otto; and one infant brother.
Iva Lange, 90, Albert City, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Pleasant View Home, Albert City.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Lange will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 29 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Albert City. Interment will be in Fairfield Township Cemetery.
Visitation with the family present will be held on Sunday, Jan. 28, from 3 p.m.- 5 p.m. at Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City.
