Buena Vista, the 20th ranked team in the nation, began the day with a 24-15 setback to sixth ranked Johnson and Wales despite winning five of the matches. Jestin Hulegaard (133), Kyle Forness (157), Joshua Murray (174), Ben Strandberg (197), and Wade Hammen (285) all won by a decision. The Beavers were hindered by having to forfeit at 125 and getting pinned twice.

In the consolation bracket, Buena Vista was bested by fifth-ranked Heidelberg 26-14. Hulegaard won by technical fall, Strandberg won by decision, and Hammen pinned his opponent as soon as he took him down late in the first period.

Buena Vista is now 5-6 on the season. The Beavers will host Northwestern College on Wednesday.
