Alta keeps piling up wins
The Alta boys basketball team is still undefeated after recording an 85-29 victory over Schaller-Crestland on Tuesday night.
"One of our goals was to hold them to at least two single digit quarters," said head coach Bart Smith.
The Cyclones went beyond their coach's orders and held the Wildcats to three single-digit quarters. Alta hit the floor hard defensively and worked its way into a 25-9 first quarter lead.
As the clock was winding down to end the first half, Alta stole the ball on two consecutive possessions to end the second quarter with a 50-20 halftime advantage.
In the third quarter, the Wildcats were held to two points and the Cyclones varsity starters sat out the entire fourth quarter en route to the 85-29 domination.
Jordan Hinkeldey led the Cyclones with 13 points. Tyler Boyd and Adam Holton put up 12 apiece and Quentin Thomas had 10. Matt Struchen led the Wildcats with nine points.
"We wanted to go into Christmas on a good note. We did that," said Smith. Alta (4-0, 6-0) is off until January 4 when they travel to Storm Lake to take on the Tornadoes.
