Shooting 60 percent from beyond the arc here Tuesday night, Sac City rolled to an 80-35 win over the St. Mary's girls basketball team.
The Indians jumped out to a 15-0 lead in the first four minutes of the game, according to St. Mary's coach Brad Wilkening.
"We were not able to get back into the game.
"We played better in the second half, but we still need to improve on both ends of the floor if we want to be competitive after the holiday break."
The Sac City defense also forced 22 Panther turnovers, Wilkening said.
Jon Foell led the SM offense with 17 points, while Devin Landgraf added ten.
The Indians canned nine three-pointers, including four by guard Taylor Mason.
Travis Hansen led Sac with 13 points and Mason netted 12.
Sioux Central 43,
Sioux Central outscored the Knights 16-11 in the fourth quarter in Pomeroy Tuesday night to record this Northwest Conference win.
The game was tied after two quarter breaks, 11-11 after one frame and 27-27 after the third quarter.
Tyler Walker led Sioux Central with 11 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots. Josh Reiling scored seven points and pulled down five boards.
"Brady Scheiber and Josh Reiling gave us some great minutes off the bench," Rebel coach Chris Wildeman said. "They played aggressively and with a lot of intensity."
Wildeman added that his team turned the ball over 23 times.
"We can't continue to be as careless with the ball as we have been the last couple of games," he said.
Alta JV Boys Results
LEMARS -The Alta JV boys basketball teams tipped off the 2006-07 season traveling to LeMars for a matchup with the Bulldogs.
The JV B team took to the floor first and beat the home team 36-21. Jon Lietz led the victors in scoring with 12 points followed closely by Albert Aguirre with 11. Ben Stevens chipped in with 9 and D.J. Bass had 4 to round out the scoring.
The Alta JV A team had a sluggish start, but came away with a 93-58 win. Stuart Goslinga topped the scoring column with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Austin Stille scored 15 pulled down 7 rebounds, had 2 steals and 3 assists. Quentin Thomas had 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 steal .and 1 assist. Andrew Allerdings pitched in with 12 points.
