With the sale of the 800 block of Lake Avenue, a lot of businesses had to relocate. Honey-Kissed Pizza moved downtown, Century 21 has taken ownership of the old Hot Shots building and now Serenity Salon and Spa has located into the new building at 325 East Milwaukee Street Suite 3.
Susan Kizer is very pleased with the layout of her new salon. The three months since she was informed of the sale of the original site has been a blur.
"It is always easier building to suite than remodeling," Kizer said. "It was all done with local contractors and they were super."
The salon and spa moved over Thanksgiving weekend and is fully operational.
"They were still doing construction while we were doing hair but we made it work," Kizer said. "I think that there was one day that we didn't have a phone line - which can be bad in this business."
Kizer feels that her new location also gives more visibility then before.
"We have been receiving more traffic," Kizer said. "We have been receiving a lot of people from out of town."
Kizer's regular clients have also been very positive about the space as well.
"We have been having our regular clients come in and comment how great it looks," Kizer said.
Brightly colored walls and light give the store an open feeling.
"The space is so much more open and the functionality is great," Kizer said. "Plus the light that we get off the windows makes it feel like a nice warm place."
The new facilities have allowed Serenity Salon and Spa to expand its services. There are now new skin treatments, message therapy and a new area for pedicures as well.
"We have added staff as well," Kizer said. "We have a new hair stylist/nail technician as well a message therapist."
With the new space their, spa days will be able to host more clients.
The salon also carries a full line of Aveda products, which are made from natural essence. Everything from hair care to body care is available at Serenity.
Serenity is not the only business going into the new building. Quizno's has announced that they will be opening a store in the spring, as well as Check'N'Go.
"I think that our new neighbors will also help being more visible," Kizer said. "We already feel more visible now."
Serenity Salon and Spa celebrated a ribbon cutting of the new store front Wednesday evening.
