Dave Patton announced Sunday that he has selected the two attorneys to assist with the duties of the Buena Vista County Attorney's Office when he assumes office position in January.
The two new assistant county attorneys are Joshua J. Walsh, a partner in the Gailey & Walsh Law Office in Newell; and James M. McHugh, a May, 2006 graduate from the University of Iowa Law School. Walsh received his undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Iowa and attended law school at the University of South Dakota. He is originally from Varina, where his father and grandfather operated the locker there for many years. Since August, 2004 Mr. Walsh has resided in Newell, where he will continue to practice law with James Gailey in addition to his part-time duties on behalf of Buena Vista County.
James McHugh is originally from Emmetsburg, and received his undergraduate degree in Physics and Religion from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2003. He will be moving to Storm Lake by the end of December and will be officed with Dave Patton at 606 Geneseo Street, in Storm Lake. Mr. McHugh and Mr. Walsh will replace the two current assistant county attorneys whose appointments end on January 1, 2007.
