Gerald Vernon Geisinger

Gerald Vernon Geisinger, 88, died Monday, Nov. 27, at the Northshire Nursing Home in Spencer.
Funeral services for Mr. Geisinger were held Thursday, Nov. 30, at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids, with Reverend Tonna Parsons officiating. Burial is in Lone Tree Cemetery at Sioux Rapids.
The family greeted friends during visitation at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids on Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 6.p.m.- 8 p.m.
Gerald Vernon Geisinger was born on March 3, 1918, at Storm Lake, to Oren Stanley and Fern Leona and Samsel Geisinger. He spent his youth and received his education in the Sioux Rapids area, graduating from the Cornell High School in 1935. Gerald worked in California for a short period of time before returning to Iowa where he worked at a service station in Des Moines,
He was united in marriage to Alberta June Walquist in Des Moines, in 1945 and to this union two children were born: Larry and Cheri. On March 13,1949, Gerald married Helen Jeane Mann and this couple was blessed with five children: Jerri, Oren, Gregory, Michael, and Richard. Throughout his lifetime, Gerald was engaged in farming, operated a restaurant and lounge and pursued one of his great passions in life and that was selling cars. He not only sold cars in Sioux Rapids but had also worked for Peterson Motors in Storm Lake.
Family meant everything to Gerald and he cherished the times he could spend with them and especially enjoyed following the activities of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gerald also had many friends that he enjoyed the company of and they enhanced his life.
Those who will always cherish his memory include his children: Larry and Nancy Geisinger of Spencer; Cheri and Ernie Lesiter of San Antonio, Texas; Jerri and Tom Warntjes of Spencer; Oren and Kathy Geisinger of Sioux Rapids; Greg Geisinger of Hastings, Minn.; Michael and Peggy Geisinger of Gilbert, Ariz.; Richard and Jackie Geisinger, Karen and Ron Becker and Tom Bates, all of Hastings, Minn.; his grandchildren: Michelle and Corey Johnson, Sandy and Bill Tucker, Jennifer and Mick Straw, Oren Stanley II and Jill Geisinger, Penny and Bart Cavanaugh, Alisha and Jason Berkland, Kasha and Josh McClay, Josh Geisinger, Derek and Kohl Geisinger, Destiny and Mont. Geisinger, Melany and Brian Radke, Mark Becker, Kelli and Chris Hochstetler, Krista Bates, Stephanie Bronstad, Matt Schuver, Kassey and Cory Eshleman, and James Burgan; 26 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bruce Geisinger of Sioux Rapids; one sister, Norma and Don Anderson of Sioux Rapids; other relatives and a host of friends.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jeane; two grandchildren, Bryan Knudtson and Donnie Geisinger; and one sister, Ruth Thompson.

Mass of the Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 1st, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sac City with Father Larry McCarty officiating. Burial is at Oakland Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. Visitation was from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 30th, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City with family present from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m..
Glyceria "Susie" Rose (Kraus) Ellis, 73, of Storm Lake, formerly of Sac City, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 28, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center at Storm Lake.
Susie was born on May 31, 1933, south of Early on the farm, the daughter of Frank and Celia (Drees) Kraus. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Early. She went for further schooling and became a teacher. Susie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sac City.
Susie was married to Percy B. Ellis on Nov. 24, 1954, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early. To this union three daughters were blessed to her: Cynthia, Sharon, and Peggy. The couple had two more beautiful children from this marriage: Pam and Thomas.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, who cherished the time spent with her family. She will be missed by many.
Survivors include her five children: Cynthia Foust and husband Mike of Alta; Sharon Hoffman and Jim Huadley of Anaheim, Calif.; Peggy Ellis and Steve Graff of Cherokee; Pam Bruning of Early; and Thomas F. Ellis and wife Sherise of Storm Lake; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great granddaughters. Other survivors include her brother, Reinold "Ray" Kraus and wife Penny of Elkhart, Ind.; sister Ceola "Sue" Woehl and husband Harlin of Sac City; sister-in-law Ila Mae Kraus of Pocahontas; extended family members and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Percy ; three brothers: Richard, Walbert, and Celestine Kraus; two grandsons, Michael Foust and Brian Ellis.
Viola Brown passed away on Thursday, Nov. 30, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 4, at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake with Rev. Roger Carlisle officiating. Burial will be at the Manning Cemetery in Manning, at 1 p.m., under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 4 p.m.-7 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 3, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Wall Lake.
