The Storm Lake Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the annual retail holiday season kick-off with the "Miracle on Lake Avenue" activities, Monday, December 4.
Enjoy a live nativity scene put on by local youngsters in the Citizens Bank drive-through, starting after 6 p.m.
Starting at 5 p.m., there will be a variety of food being offered by non-profit organizations and businesses in the downtown area. Apple cider, hot chocolate, holiday goodies and chili and soup are just a few of the samplings. The public is also welcomed to the Elks Lodge for their annual chili feed.
The parade at 6 p.m. will be the highlight of the evening with many lighted floats, ponies and horses as well as Santa and the Mouse from Santa's Castle. This year's theme coordinates with the Santa Castle's theme, "You better not pout!" "The Mouse" from Santa's Castle will mingle with the shoppers after the parade and Santa will stroll from store to store checking to see who has been naughty or nice!
The Grand Marshall of the parade will be one of five Scrooge candidates campaigning for the honor. The one who raised the most funds for Santa's Castle will receive the Scrooge honor!
Santa's Castle will be open at 6:30 p.m., and downtown stores will offer live musicians and performers in the windows, as well as warming stations.
The evening ends with a Wassail Party at Witter gallery starting at 7:30, featuring the very talented musical performance of "A Touch of Broadway".
