Women in Denim event returns

The third annual Women in Denim conference will be held Friday, Jan. 19 and Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Buena Vista University campus in Storm Lake. The purpose of this conference is to give women involved in agriculture, whether on the farm or working in the agricultural field, a chance to gather, network, relax and learn from one another.

Women attending this conference will have the opportunity to choose from more than 28 educational workshop ranging from grain marketing, legal issues, leaving a legacy, internet safety, family communications, interior design, renewable energy and landscaping.

The event will begin with a dinner followed by the presentation entitled, "Who am I? Who are you? Who are we together?" by keynote speaker Pat McGill on the evening of Friday, Jan. 19.

Workshops will begin following the keynote speaker and continue all day Saturday, Jan. 20. The closing ceremony, with door prizes, will be held at 4 p.m.

The Women in Denim committee is again looking for nominees for the Inspiration Award and Spirit of Women in Denim Award. These awards will be presented during the event.

The Women in Denim Inspiration Award is given to a woman involved in agriculture and inspires or motivates others. Nominations are being accepted by the Women in Denim committee and consists of a 500-word essay about the nominee.

The Spirit of Women in Denim Award recognizes a company, individual, sponsor or organization that exemplifies the spirit of Women in Denim. This award will also be based on a 500-word essay.

Nominations should be sent to Women in Denim, P.O. Box 38, Albert City, Iowa, 50510 and should include both the nominator's contact information and the nominee's name, address, phone number and e-mail.
