Planning for St. Mary's ball and charity auction under way

Tuesday, November 7, 2006

The 2007 St. Mary's Ball and Charity Auction committee is already planning for the March 24 event. This year's theme will be "Fantastic Voyage" - a nautical/cruise line theme.

Chairs for the 2007 event are Robert and Kathy Fritz. Robert is a juvenile court officer for the State of Iowa and Kathy is the Coordinator for the Child Advocacy Board, CASA and Foster Care Review Boards. Co-chairs for 2007 and leaders for the 2008 event are Mel and Cindy Pudenz. Mel is the service manager at Hultgrens-Gerlach and also farms part-time. Cindy is Assistant Vice President for Retirement Plans at MetaBank in Storm Lake.

The Fritz's have two fourth grade students at St. Mary's School - Riley and Mitchell, as well as 9-month-old twin girls. The Pudenz's have a junior at St. Mary's, Christine, and a first-grader, Brandon.

The Ball and Charity Auction is scheduled for Saturday, March 24, 2007 in the Dows Grand Ballroom on the Buena Vista University Campus in Storm Lake. Ticket sales will begin in January.

The event will include a pre-event reception, cocktail hour, silent auction, live auction, drawings and much more. The popular On the Fritz band out of Omaha, Neb., will provide dancing after the live auction.

Last year, the event raised nearly $70,000 in net profit to benefit St. Mary's School.

Ticket sales for the $10,000 Big Raffle began in September and will continue until all 400 tickets are sold. Bob Lenhart and Mike Pertzborn are co-chairs of the raffle.

Gina Hartman and Kris Snyder are co-chairing the auction with Mary Timko and Chris Sitzmann co-chairing the decorations.

For questions regarding the event, please contact St. Mary's Development Office at 732-3110 Ext. 15 or smalumni@iw.net.
