'Life Saver' donations aid BVRMC Lab

Tuesday, November 7, 2006

Through the generous support of the BVRMC Life Savers, a Cryo Freezer has been purchased for the Laboratory at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center.

This freezer stores specialized blood products for use in critical situations such as a major accident where a large supply would be needed quickly. Until this time, BVRMC personnel needed to travel to Sioux City for these blood products. The new freezer can truly be a life saver for those in need, medical center officials said. The cost of the freezer was over $6,000.

BVRMC Life Savers are those who have generously offered financial donations to purchase equipment for the medical needs of patients and families served at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center. Annually, the Life Saver fund drive is conducted by the Buena Vista Regional Healthcare Foundation. This is the third year that the Foundation has conducted the Life Saver fund drive. Many of the latest medical equipment items have been purchased because of the generosity of the Life Savers. Donations are now being sought for additional needs identified by the hospital.
