Lyle Rachuy, 71, Storm Lake, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Funeral service will be held today, Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, with Rev. Connie Spitzack and Rev. Mark Youngquist officiating. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

On Nov. 1, a funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Trinity American Lutheran Church Chapel in Waterloo. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the Church Chapel. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is also in charge of the arrangements.
Lyle was born Nov. 11, 1934, in Waterloo to Walter and Harriet (Comfort) Rachuy. He received his education in Waterloo, where he graduated with the Class of 1953 from Waterloo West High School. He elected to continue his education at Iowa State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. During his time at Iowa State, Lyle was a member of the Iowa State Baseball team and Pi Mu Epsilon Math Honorary.
On Sept. 18, 1960, Lyle was united in marriage to Shirley A. Bearbower in Ames. They were blessed with four children: Sandra, Scott, David and Karla.
Lyle was an active member of the community, serving in many different venues. He was on the Board of Trustees at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center from 1993-present, Chairman from 1999-2001, currently the Secretary, as well as serving previously as both the Vice Chairman and Treasurer. In addition, Lyle was on the Board of Trustees at Methodist Manor from 1991-1999, Board of Directors at Lake Creek Country Club, where he had been a member since 1975; past member of Storm Lake Rotary Club, having served as the president for one year; past member of the Board of Directors of the Storm Lake Industrial Corporation.
Lyle was the District Manager of MidAmerican Energy in Storm Lake, prior to his retirement on Jan. 31, 1992.
Over the years, Lyle enjoyed playing golf, watching sports on T.V., computer activities and traveling. Above all, Lyle treasured his family and the time he spent with them. He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. His presence will be missed in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years, Shirley Rachuy, Storm Lake; children, Scott Rachuy and his wife Kathy, Ankeny; David Rachuy and his wife Cathyrn, West Des Moines; Karla Bond and her husband, Robert, Urbandale; three grandchlildren. Cody Rachuy, Trevor Rachuy, and Margret Rachuy; many other family members and a host of friends.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Harriet Rachuy and his daughter, Sandra Rachuy.
Alma L. Hogrefe, 85, Albert City, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006 at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am, today, Tuesday, Oct. 31 at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake with Pastor Stephen Kieser and Pastor Larry Fetts co-officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Sliefert Funeral Home of Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
