Robert E. Shewell

Robert E. Shewell, 79, Storm Lake, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 2, at the First Baptist Church in Storm Lake, with Reverend Tom Hinshaw officiating. Interment was in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Robert Eugene Shewell was born April 26, 1927 at Muncie, Ind. to Alvi William and Ossie (Rook) Shewell. He received his first six years of education in Muncie until the family moved to Storm Lake in September of 1940. At that time, Robert continued his education in Storm Lake, through three years of high school.

Robert served his country in the United State Army during World War II, as a T/5 Radio Repairman 16th Const. Sq Infantry. He received his honorable discharge on Nov. 22, 1946.

On Oct. 24, 1947, Robert was united in marriage to Margalet Eileen Peterson at the Baptist Church in Storm Lake. They were blessed with two children, Thomas and Connie.

Robert was a member of the Baptist Church in Storm Lake. He worked for 31 years at Hygrade-Kingon and seven years at Buena Vista Manor, until his retirement in 1990. Robert found great pleasure playing golf and wood working.

Above all, Robert treasured his family and the time he spent with them. He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather, who took special pride in his grandsons and their achievements and he dearly loved his great-granddaughter Ella Marie. His presence will be missed in the lives of all those who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Margalet of Storm Lake; son, Thomas Shewell and wife Rhonda, Talmoon, Minn.; daughter, Connie Shewell-Kahnke and husband Mike, Storm Lake; grandsons: Scott Kahnke and wife Sharon, Apple Valley, Minn. and Michael Kahnke of Kalona; great-granddaughter Ella Marie Kahnke, Apple Valley, Minn.; one sister Jessie Shewell-Carlson and husband Robert, Two Harbors, Minn.; many other family members and a host of friends and colleagues.

Edwin G. Franzmeier

Edwin G. Franzmeier, 82, Albert City, died Tuesday, Oct.10, 2006 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Friday, Oct.13, at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Storm Lake, with Rev. Stephen Kieser officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Sliefert Funeral Home of Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m.today, Thursday, at Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City where the family will greet friends.
