The Aurelia High football team improved to 3-1 in the district and 5-1 overall here Thursday night with a 48-12 rout of Whiting.
Both teams came into district play at 2-1, with both squads losing district games to Remsen-St. Mary's.
Thursday, Aurelia got off to a running start, taking a 14-0 lead after one quarter.
The Bulldogs didn't let Whiting back into the game.
Sensing the kill, they scored 20 points in the second quarter for a commanding 34-6 lead at the half.
Bulldog running back Gabe Fuller opened the Aurelia scoring with a 2-yard run. That was followed by a 10-yard run from Mike White.
White scored the first touchdown of the second quarter on a 12-yard run.
That was followed by a 1-yard scoring run by quarterback Jared Bruce. After Whiting scored with a minute left in the first half, Jacob Bruce returned a kick 78 yards for a touchdown.
Rounding out the Bulldog scoring, White ran in from 49-yards out with 11 minutes, 43 seconds left in the third quarter.
Aaron Bruce scored the last touchdown on a run.
"This was by far the best game we've played this season," long-time Aurelia coach Myron Radke said.
"Coach (Grant) Peckenschneider and Coach Demers called an almost perfect game," he added.
White led the Bulldogs with 134 yards on 16 carries while Gabe Fuller ran nine times for 48 yards. Jared Bruce gained 34 yards on five carries.
As a team, the Bulldogs ran 42 times for 262 yards, an average of 6.2 yard per rush.
Radke credited his offensive line - Drew Purhmann, Ross Fitzgerald, Andrew Perry and Angelo Mikos -for an outstanding performance.
Defensively, Gabe Fuller led the way with 12 tackles and blocked well for White.
The Aurelia defense held Whiting to 134 yards rushing.
