Western Christian swept the Storm Lake High volleyball team Thursday night, dealing the Tornadoes a 25-5, 25-14, 25-2 loss.
Storm Lake couldn't get much offense going, as it finished with eight total kills, including a team-high three by senior Katie Overturf. Jaye Kwikkel notched two kills.
Overturf also finished with two blocks and a team-high eight digs. She also was 17 of 19 in serve receive, while Kwikkel was 5 of 5. Lindsay Guenther was 4 of of 5 in serving.
The Tornadoes play two home games next week, facing Emmetsburg Tuesday and Estherville-LC Thursday night in a Parent's Night game.
In the JV game, Western Christian edged its SLHS counterparts, 21-6, 21-12
The SL JV team, 3-4 overall, was led by Tammy Nielsen's five kills on 8 of 10 hitting. Slone Masters added one kill on 8 of 11 hitting.
Mylea Zimmerman finished with three set assists on 16 of 22 setting. Jordan Bauer was 8 of 11 in setting with two assists.
Kelly Smith (5 for 5) and Maleia Miller (4 for 4) each served 100 percent. Smith added five digs, Abby Smith 4 digs and Zimmerman 4 digs.
The Tornado frosh lost all four games to HWC, 21-18, 21-9, 21-11 and 21-9.
Nicole Martin and Emily Deters were the top hitters, while Martin made good on 17 sets. Brooke Gaffney (8 of 11) and Martin (8 of 10) were the leading servers
"The girls came out ready to play, only to lose by three points in game one," SL freshman coach Julia Pick said.
