BV grad to lead state student aid commission

Monday, October 2, 2006

The Iowa College Student Aid Commission, a state agency that helps Iowa students and families pay for college, has elected Janet Adams as their new board chairperson.

Now a resident of Webster City, Adams is a former Storm Lake resident and a graduate of Buena Vista University. She served as State Representative for District 14 from 1987-1992, is a past president of the Iowa League of Women Voters, and is a former elementary remedial reading teacher in Iowa. Currently, Ms. Adams is the executive director of the Iowa Reading Association.

"It is important that all Iowans have access to financial resources to help them achieve their higher education aspirations," Adams said. "I take my role very seriously."
