Halloween Hike planned
Sac County Conservation Board's 22nd Annual Halloween Night Hike will be held at Hagge Park, south of Sac City. Reservations are open for the Halloween Night Hike Saturday, October 21 and Sunday, October 22. Hikes will be given every 10 minutes between 6-9 p.m., both evenings. The hike is one hour, a mile in length. Refreshments will be served in the shelterhouse. Reservations are required. Call (712) 662-4530 Monday-Friday 8- 4:30 p.m. A small fee is charged.
A pumpkin carving contest will be held on Friday, October 15 at the Hagge Park garage beginning at 5:30 p.m. Bring carving utensils and a pumpkin. Prizes will be awarded in three age categories. All pumpkins will be used to help light the trail along the hike route.
The annual Storm Lake High School Homecoming Parade will take place on Lake Avenue downtown Friday, starting at 2:30 p.m. John Swanson as Marshal.
Country music tribute
"For the Love of Country: A Tribute to Country's Greatest" concert Saturday, 8-11 p.m. at the Storm Lake Elk Lodge. Talented impersonators perform the work of stars like Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn. Tickets in advance or at the door. Benefits the Elks scholarship fund.
Log Cabin quilting class
Learn some easy techniques for building your own log cabin Christman quilt from instructor, Bev Edmondson. A class is offered on four Thursdays beginning on October 5th, 6-9 pm at Storm Lake Middle School. Make a 32" square Christmas wreath quilt to hang in your home or give as a gift. Fee is $45 to be paid to CommUNITY Education at 419 Lake Avenue by Monday, October 2nd.
