Aurelia avenged last year's loss to Remsen-Union here Friday night, beating the Rockets 44-22.
Aurelia never trailed in the game, but led just 24-16 at the half. Both teams scored six points in the third quarter, but Aurelia added 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
The Bulldogs did have a rough start. Less than two minutes into the game, Remsen-Union took an 8-0 lead on a 6-yard run by Craig Ahlers.
Aurelia responded with a 52 yard scoring pass from Jared Bruce to Jacob Bruce. Aurelia took the lead for good with ten straight points, including a 3-yard run by Jared Bruce and a 30-yard field goal by Gabe Fuller.
Late in the second quarter, Ahlers scored again for the Rockets, this time on a 10-yard run that trimmed Aurelia's lead to just 17-16.
Jacob Bruce then returned a kickoff for 67 yards for a score as Aurelia led 24-16 at the half.
On the second-half's first possession, Aurelia's Mike White broke loose for a 70-yard scoring run. Late in the third quarter, Remsen responded with a score on a 70-yard run.
The Bulldogs scored 14 unanswered points in the final quarter, including on a 4-yard run by Fuller and an eight-yard pass from Jared Bruce to Mikos.
White led the Bulldogs in rushing, running 20 times for 124 yards. Jared Bruce was 12 of 19 through the air for 161 yards.
Remsen Union outrushed Aurelia 299-153. The Bulldogs had a 161-28 advantage in passing. The Bulldogs are at Granville-Spalding Friday night.
