Wild demo derby set for Clay Fair

Monday, August 28, 2006

Total Destruction Promotions, LLC is second to nobody. This is THE best demolition derby show," says owner and operator Rob Baker. "We are booked all summer, but my drivers and crew can't wait to work the Clay County Fair in Spencer."

On September 9, R & R Total Destruction Promotions will make its first appearance at the Clay County Fair, and Baker promises all race car fans a very big show. "We want to fill the grandstand! Fans are guaranteed great action and great cars. The crowd won't be disappointed because it will be the start of something big at this year's Clay County Fair. It will be the wildest thing they have ever seen."

Any American made sedan or wagon can run, but men and women drivers are 18 years or older and have a valid driver's license. Ages 14-17 must have a notarized permission slip and some form of driver's license to compete. No alcohol is allowed. According to the owner, R & R Total Destruction Promotions takes pride in safety issues. "This sport can be dangerous. We're here to have fun, but safety and sportsmanship come first."

Qualifying starts promptly at 11 a.m. and goes until 2:30 p.m."We mailed over 4,000 schedules and information to drivers in four states in the Midwest," reported the owner. Trophies are awarded in addition to cash prizes, and stakes are high. Rules and prize money information are available at Clay County Fair office or on the R & R Promotions website.

Rob Baker is a three-time Iowa State Champion Demolition Derby winner. He has competed in derbies for 18 years and has been Midwest Champion several times. He launched his own company in 1998.
