SL boys, girls ousted by LeMars netters

Thursday, April 19, 2001

LEMARS - LeMars won all six singles matches and used that momentum to win all three doubles contests as well to post a 9-0 victory over Storm Lake in a boys tennis match Tuesday at LeMars.

Dan Lickteig had the closest match for Storm Lake, falling 10-7 at No. 4 singles. Lickteig and Greg Hegarty were felled 10-8 at No. 2 doubles.

"LeMars is a solid team, much-improved over last year," Storm Lake coach Ron Netten said. "We got a good old-fashioned clock cleaning. We looked slow and could not keep the ball in play. We will need to improve our play by more intensity, consistency and service procedure."

Storm Lake is now 1-0 in the conference and 1-2 overall.

LeMars won the junior varsity match 8-4. Pachaxchay Inthongsay, Drew Woodle, Matt Henson and Phim Srimevang won in singles play for the Tornadoes.
