With nine months left to go, Storm Lake Assistant Superintendent of Schools Larry Parman warns that he is no "lame duck."
"I'm not retiring yet - I want to continue to do the same thing I've always done," Parman said.
That's good news for the Storm Lake Community School District - Parman has helped the district secure more than $10 million in grants, while also keeping a keen eye on the curriculum throughout the schools.
And he isn't planning to go far when he retires at the end of the calendar year.
"We plan to stay in Storm Lake," Parman said. "This is home where we lived for 26, 27 years."
Although Parman will take early retirement through the district, he plans to continue to work as an independent school consultant.
He said his early retirement will work well for both district cost savings and himself.
