Garden Club's August show about to blossom

The Buena View Federated Garden Club of Storm Lake is preparing for their 39th Annual Flower Show on Thursday, August 10. The show take place at the Storm Lake Methodist Church Family Life Center. The 2006 theme is "Botanical Whimsies".

Any amateur gardener may enter. All you master gardeners in the county are eligible. Entry times are Wednesday, 4:30 - 7 p.m. and early Thursday morning 7:30 - 9 a.m. Three state accredited judges will be judging all the entries that morning. There are twelve design classes, and Tables Section classes: It's a Jungle Out There (exhibition), Oh Give Me A Gnome (breakfast table) and Magic Moments (supper-functional).

The Horticulture Division has ninety-eight classes, from roses to shrubs and trees. The Special Exhibits Division includes classes in Rain Gardens and Iowa Native Plants. There is also an Artistic Crafts section includes Plum Crazy (collage) and Honey, I Shrunk the Garden (miniature landscape). Any questions or to request an entry book call 732-1285 or 732-5366.

Everyone is invited to attend the Public Flower Show from 2 - 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 10. It is the highlight of the club's year. Admission is free. They will have a Garden Cafe open for refreshments and to talk with members and friends.
