Rebels claim Northwest golf tourney

NEWELL - Andrew Meister and Drew Barglof each fired a 4-over-par 40 to help Sioux Central win the first in a series of Northwest Conference boys golf tournaments on Monday.

Sioux Central finished with a 164. Aurelia was second with a 165, followed by Newell-Fonda with a 167, Storm Lake St. Mary's a 176, Alta and Sac City a 186, Pomeroy-Palmer a 191, Schaller-Crestland a 196 and Albert City-Truesdale a 244.

Brandon McClatchey and Travis Vaudt each carded a 42 for Sioux Central.

Eric Sonksen golfed a 40 for Aurelia, while Bill Weathers and Bob Waddell each shot a 41. Justin Peterson shot a 43.

A.J. Kelly led Newell-Fonda with a 38. Jesse Rieman golfed a 41, Aaron Gehrig a 42 and Matt Stauter a 46.

Eric Drey paced St. Mary's by carding a 39. Brian Maxson shot a 42, Kevin Kirby a 47 and Ryan Rust a 48 for the Panthers.

Justin Walsh led Alta with a 41. Dave Gregg shot a 42, Kevin Grieme a 50 and Derick Radke a 53 for the Cyclones.

Jacob Myrtue carded a 46 to lead Schaller-Crestland. Justin Mason finished with a 48. Caleb Garberding had the low score for AC-T with a 54.
