Tornado boys serve up tennis win, girls tumble

CHEROKEE - Adam Woodle, Kris Hoeppner, Greg Hegarty, Dan Lickteig and Jon Ellwanger all won their singles matches to help Storm Lake to a 7-2 win over Cherokee in a Lakes Conference tennis match on Monday at Cherokee.

Woodle prevailed 10-5 at No. 1 singles, while Hoeppner was a 10-0 winner at No. 2. Hegarty triumphed 10-6 at No. 3, Lickteig won 10-5 at No. 4 and Ellwanger prevailed 10-5 at No. 6.

In doubles, Woodle and Hoeppner prevailed 10-3 at No. 1, and Hegarty and Lickteig were 10-2 winners at No. 2.

Storm Lake won the Jv match 9-2. Ubon Saengchanpheng, John Sennert, Pachaxchay Inthongsay, Austin Brown and Matt Henson all won their respective singles matches. Saengchanpheng and Ithongsay were winners in doubles, as were Justin Loew and Sennert, Brown and Drew Woodle and Henson and Phim Srimenang.

Cherokee 9, SL girls 0

Cherokee won all six singles matches and used that momentum to win all three doubles matches as well en route to a win over Storm Lake in a girls tennis match Monday.

Cherokee won the junior varsity match 8-3. Heather Storm won her singles match, while Storm and Jessy Chicas, and Ashley Huston and Alicia Zolkiewicz won in doubles.
