GOWRIE - Shane Maier was a double-winner, placing first in both the shot put and discus to help Storm Lake win the Prairie Valley Invitational track and field meet Monday night at Gowrie.
Storm Lake scored 98 points in the meet. Jefferson-Scranton was second with 96.5. Eight teams participated.
Maier, who remained undefeated in the shot put, won the event with a throw of 51 feet, 10 1/2 inches. The sophomore claimed the discus with a throw of 143-11.
Jeff DeHaan finished second in the 110 high hurdles with a clocking of 15.29 seconds, as did Justin Koeppe in the 400 meter hurdles in 58.18 seconds.
The 4x200 relay team took second in 1 minute, 34.9 seconds, as did the 4x400 relay in a time of 3:36.66.
Rory Fulcher leaped 18-11 to place third in the long jump. Mike Keller took third in the 400 meters in 54.66 seconds. The 4x800 relay unit was third in a time of 9:01.52, as was the mile medley relay in 3:55.33.
