L-M boys, girls take Orange & Black Relays

HOLSTEIN - Jon Graff finished first in two events to lead the boys team, while Teresa Hanna and Jenni Elbert were multi-winners for the girls teams as Laurens-Marathon captured both team titles in the Orange & Black Relays held Monday night in Holstein.

Laurens-Marathon's girls scored 656 points to beat out Galva-Holstein, which scored 575. Sioux Central was fourth and Storm Lake St. Mary's 10th.

Laurens-Marathon scored 540 points in the boys meet, outdistancing Galva-Holstein, which scored 459.5. Sioux Central was fourth, Newell-Fonda fifth and Storm Lake St. Mary's 10th.

Hanna claimed three events - the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.80, the 200 meters in 27.15 seconds and the long jump in 15 feet, 7 inches. Elbert won the high jump in 5-6 and the 100 meter hurdles in 16.56 seconds.

Boys Division

Graff claimed titles in the 1,600 meters with a time of 5:00.59 and the 800 meters in 2:13.84. The Chargers' 4x800 relay team finished first in 8:53.48.

Finishing second for the Chargers were Jesse Schmidt in the long jump in 19-11 3/4 and the 400 meters in 52.95 seconds, Luke Northway in the 1,600 meters in 5:01.43, and the 4x100 relay in 47.23 seconds.

Placing third were Chris Hodgell in the shot put in 41-4, Brandon Stoulil in the discus in 119-4 and David Winkler in the 3,200 meters in 11:30.68. Stoulil took fourth in the shot put in 41-2, as did Devin Stewart in the 400 meters in 54.6 seconds, Josh Wilkening in the 400 hurdles in 1:02.88 and the 4x400 relay in 3:51.62.

Galva-Holstein's Lucas Schossow was a double-winner, taking the shot put in 53-11 1/2 and the discus in 148-4. Jacob Brosamle was second in the 110 high hurdles in 16.81 seconds, as were Bryan Ellerbusch in the 200 meters in 24.05 seconds and three relays - the 4x200 in 1:37.92, the mile medley in 3:57.91 and the 4x400 in 3:40.19.
