The Siouxland Blood Bank was at the Varina American Legion Hall on April 2 and at Buena Vista University and Buena Vista Regional Medical Center on April 3.
There were 37 units of blood collected in Varina and 67 and 42 units of blood collected in Storm Lake.
The following volunteers reached a giving milestone at these recent blood drives: Jamie Croatt, Jeremy Nielsen, Miranda Brenneman, Bradley Anderson and Julie Kelly, all one gallon; Suzette Radke and Karna Jackson, two gallons each and Robert North, 5 gallons.
The Siouxland Blood Bank upcoming drives include April 24 from 8 to 3 p.m. at the Cherokee Community Center, May 1 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center from 12 to 6 p.m. and at the Alta Community Center on May 10 from 2-6 p.m.
The Siouxland Blood Bank serves all the blood needs for the 16 area hospitals and their patients. The current need of the patients is over 750 units per week. Blood products are made available for patients is if individuals volunteer to donate blood on a regular basis.
